These FAQs are designed to guide families through the admissions process, from submitting an application and understanding tuition and financial assistance to preparing for visit days and assessments. If you don’t see your question here, please contact the Admissions Office — we are happy to help.
| Now that I’ve submitted my online application, what’s the next step? |
You’ve taken a great first step! If you haven’t toured the School yet, we recommend scheduling a visit with the Admissions staff or attending one of our upcoming events. For students applying to grades 1–12, we will also schedule a campus visit day. Review your online checklist to upload required documents and ensure your child’s teacher submits any recommendation forms. Students applying to grades 5–12 should also schedule the Independent School Entrance Exam (ISEE). |
| What happens on a normal student visit day? |
For students applying to grades 1–12, please arrive at school by 8:30 AM with a parent or guardian to sign in at the Admissions Office. Lunch is provided unless your child prefers to bring their own. Students may wear their regular school clothes. Pick-up is typically at 2:00 PM.

| Could I talk with a particular teacher, coach, parent, or administrator in the admissions process? |
Yes! We’re happy to connect you with members of the Randolph community who can answer your questions. Many of our events are designed for this purpose, providing opportunities for meaningful conversations. You can also follow real-time events and updates on social media. If you or your child haven’t had the conversations you would like, please let us know. We can arrange them for you. |
| What do I need to do to prepare my child for the admissions assessment and visit? |
There is no need to prepare your child for our achievement-based assessments. If your child is taking the Independent School Entrance Exam (ISEE), we do recommend looking at the tutorial on the ISEE website, which addresses the format of the exam. This is helpful in preventing any surprises on the day of a 3-hour assessment. Encourage your child to get a good night’s sleep and enjoy a healthy breakfast. The best way to help them succeed is to keep the day as stress-free as possible, so try to reassure them that it’s just one step in the process and there’s no need to worry. |
| How many spaces are available in each grade? |
| We accept students in all grades while intentionally keeping class sizes small so that each student can be known, challenged, and supported. Lower School classes average about 16 students, providing an ideal environment for early learners. Greengate classes are even smaller than Lower School classes, allowing for individualized instruction that meets the needs of students with dyslexia and other language-based learning differences. Middle and Upper School classes are also smaller than typical public school sizes. |
| How are admissions decisions made? |
| Each division of the School has an admissions committee with administrators, counselors and admissions officers who review completed files. There is typically not one factor that affects the decision. We look at a set of circumstances and consider the ability of the student, and the likelihood of success in our program. We look for students who are willing and able to do good work, and who come from supportive families. In addition, we consider the timing of the application and the available space in the grade. |

| Does Randolph partner with any scholarship-granting organizations? |
| Yes, Randolph partners with Renaissance and Scholarships for Kids to support families who might not otherwise be able to afford Randolph. Please contact us for more information about these funds. |
| Is Randolph an education service provider for the CHOOSE Act of Alabama? |
| Yes, Randolph School is an Education Service Provider for the CHOOSE Act of Alabama. Please refer to instructions with the Department of Revenue and the CHOOSE Act website for specific information about your family's eligibility. Once that eligibility is determined, Randolph can work with Class Wallet to process funding for the education services rendered. |
