Graduation concluded with Commencement on the Garth Commons Lawn on Saturday, May 27.
The ceremonies began with faculty and juniors processing to their seats to Bach's "Sleepers, Awake," played by the Randolph Band, and seniors processing to "Highland Cathedral."
After Head of School Jay Rainey welcomed the audience, Class of 2017 President Charlotte Tauss offered opening remarks. (read here) In what has become an annual tradition, the Randolph Commencement Choir then performed "Things That Never Die" by Lee Dengler.
Awards were presented by Jay Rainey, Assistant Head of School for Academic Affairs Jerry Beckman, and Head of Upper School Ryan Liese: Head of School's Cup - Grace LaFrentz Rupa Kakani Memorial Award - Eashaa Jampala Faculty Award for Improvement - Walton Rogers Wehrner Von Braun Award (valedictorian) - Grace LaFrentz Lynch Faculty Award - Vanessa Robinson

The Class of 2017 Valedictorian, Grace LaFrentz, presented her address (read here) before diplomas were awarded by Board of Trustees Chair Brian Pollock and Jay Rainey. The always highly coveted final diploma went to Mary Leigh Oliver.
Closing remarks were made by SGA President Coleman Martinson (read here) before Jay Rainey bid farewell to the Class of 2017 (read here).
After the singing of the Alma Mater, the new graduates followed the tradition of tossing their mortar boards in the air before recessing to "Amber Waves of Grain" by James Curnow.
