Baccalaureate Service

The penultimate event of graduation took place in the Thurber Arts Center the evening of Friday, May 26.
After the processional and the singing of the Alma Mater, the Invocation was provided by Rev. John Bailey of the First United Methodist Church. Senior Neelesh Manandhar, one of two seniors invited to perform at the Service, sang Schubert's song "An die Musik" ("To Music"), and the Class of 2017 Salutatorian, Liddy Malone, delivered her address. After remarks by Randolph's Board of Trustees Chair Brian Pollock, Head of School Jay Rainey introduced the evening's guest speaker, Upper School English teacher Lewis Cobbs, who is retiring after 19 years as a member of Randolph's faculty. (read here)

After a performance by the Randolph Concert Choir, the other senior solo performer, Coner McFarlin, performed his own song, "Where You Want to Go," for voice and guitar. Closing remarks were given by Honor Council President Andrew Johnson (read here), after which the senior members of the Concert Choir sang "Homeward Bound" by Marta Keen.

The Recessional was accompanied by the "Grand March" from Verdi's Aida.
