Randolph Wins Regional Science Olympiad

Randolph team brings home 14 medals and advances to State.
Congratulations to our Upper School Science Olympiad team for coming first place in Regionals, held at UAH, on March 4, 2017. The team, whose Head Coach is Upper School science teacher Ruth McMichens, won a total of 14 medals: five first place, five second place, two third place, and two fourth.

Randolph’s varsity team, along with the varsity teams from Sparkman, Grissom, and St. John Paul II, will advance to the State Science Olympiad at Auburn, on April 1, 2017.

The following students received 1st place medals: Bipul Mainali, Mahip Kalra (Anatomy & Physiology), Deanna Dailey, Roshni Patnayakuni (Ecology), Esper Chao, Emily Johnson (Hydrogeology, Remote Sensing), and Nick Bonaker, Tanuj Alapati (Optics). These students received 2nd place medals: Neelash Manandhar, Nayana Vuppala (Chemistry Lab, Invasive Species), Nick Bonaker, Mahip Kalra, Spencer Laue (Experimental Design), Neelesh Manandhar, Deanna Dailey (Microbe Mission), Roshni Patnayakuni, Esper Chao (Materials Science). Winning 3rd place medals were Ben Raiford, Trey Stanley (Materials Science) and Peyton Paulus (Helicopters), and 4th place, Sridhar Karne, Nisha Mailapur (Disease Detectives) and Mahip Kalra, Spencer Laue (Hovercraft).
