Lower School Students Enjoy Acclaimed Storyteller

Michael Reno Harrell visited the Rhett Fine Arts Center Friday.
Acclaimed storyteller Michael Reno Harrell shared ballads and tales of boyhood antics with our Lower School students today. A veteran storyteller, entertainer and songwriter, Michael hails from the southern Appalachian mountains and has been honored as a Featured Teller at the National Storytelling Festival and a Teller in Residence at the International Storytelling Center.

His songs, humor and wit kept the children engaged and anticipating what came next. And his folksy presentation had students imagining scenes from childhood in a previous era, as they were transported to the time and place of a young boy growing up in southern mountain culture. The joyous laughter and smiles were a great way to start a Friday morning.

Harrell will join veteran storyteller Donald Davis as the featured guests at "Tell Me a Story," the 22nd annual storytelling festival to be held this weekend, February 25/26, at Trinity United Methodist Church.
