A graduate of James Madison University, Cobbs continued her education at George Mason University, Loyola University, and the University of Massachusetts. She joined the faculty at Randolph in 1997.
Prior to that, she was a teacher at Isidore Newman School in New Orleans with 10 years of administrative experience.
As a member of the Educational Records Bureau Mathematics Committee, Cobbs participated in a review of entrance and lower level tests for independent schools. She earned the Distinguished Teaching Award in the Advanced Program for Young Scholars in 1994 and 1995.
Cobbs is also a member of the National Council Teachers of Mathematics.
She and her husband, Lewis, English department chair at Randolph, have two grown children.
