Nance holds a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education from Auburn University and has since undertaken graduate level studies at Campbell University in North Carolina, Alabama A&M University, and the University of Alabama in Huntsville. She has teaching experience at elementary schools in Georgia and North Carolina, where she also served as a coordinator, identifying professional development needs of faculty; as a technology team member, reviewing and assessing software needs; and as a member of a SACS committee, ensuring curriculum and policies met accreditation requirements. In recent years, Nance has been an active parent volunteer at Hampton Cove Elementary School and in the Girl Scouts program. She is also a private piano instructor, with a 26-student studio ranging in age from preschool to adult.
