Service is an important part of the Lower School experience. Driven by the philosophy that children can make a difference, the community engages in a variety of successful projects. In recent years, projects have included bake sales to raise money for a local animal shelter, selling Spirit Links to raise money for phone cards for soldiers, used book drives, canned food drives, and a campaign to raise money for Heiffer International. In addition to these efforts on campus, students extend their service off-campus during Community Service Days to locations such as the Earlyworks Museum, Burritt Museum, Somerby Retirement Home, the Land Trust, Maple Hill Cemetery, Huntsville Botanical Museum, and Constitution Village.
