Foust holds an associate degree in general studies, a bachelor's degree in theology, and a master's degree in library science. She is also a certified K-12 school library media specialist. Her great love of music also led her to study voice at the Westminster Choir College in Princeton, N.J.

Foust had a long and productive relationship with the National Cathedral in Washington, D.C., first as a bookstore specialist in its museum store, then as the Upper School Assistant Librarian at the National Cathedral School, sister school of St. Alban's School.

She is a member of the American Association of School Librarians, the American Libraries Association, and the Metropolitan Washington Independent School Library Association.
