A significant part of the student’s social consciousness includes an awareness of the world. In grades K-4, we begin to lay the groundwork for a lifetime of community service. Students purchased socks and toiletries to make care packages for the homeless, collect books for less fortunate students, and donate canned foods to the Food Bank. Last year, children sent candy bars and letters to the soldiers in Iraq, and shoes to children in Africa. During the December holidays, instead of a Christmas gift exchange, each grade chooses a charity to serve. Students take pride in helping others less fortunate and they learn the importance of good citizenship.
